Joycon / Analog Stick Drift

Hello! I'm new to this community and I just discovered it! I'm obsessed with Nintendo Switch as a gaming platform. It's the first one I've bought for myself since the PS2.

I've just sent in the left joycon from two different Switches (mine and kid's) to Nintendo for repair. The kid claims that the ProController for the Switch never experiences drift.

But from what I've read various places, *any* analog stick will eventually drift, and the solution is third party controllers that use magnets. (I forget where I first saw the post, The Verge maybe? Or Ifixit?)

Does anyone have experience with third party controllers with the Switch?

You're correct, the pro controller is absolutely capable of drifting.

I have a third party controller (I believe PowerA, I got it from Aldi) and it's been working great. If it does eventually drift, the bonus is that they're cheaper to buy and, well, it feels less bad to crack it open for repairs.

I managed to find the controller you read about (GuliKit KingKong Pro 2). The price isn't unreasonable but it is more expensive than the official switch pro controller. The product is less than a year old, so it's hard to tell how durable it'll really be. People who have them say the triggers on them are a bit uncomfortable though and given the amount of articles about the triggers breaking, I'd be wary of that. Luckily, the articles offer solutions to a lot of problems. People are recommending checking for firmware updates frequently.

The issue with controllers is of course the lack of motion controls but up to you if you use that enough to warrant investigation.
